Update on Adult Elective Orthopaedic Services Review
The Adult Elective Orthopaedic Services Review continues to progress well. In July 2019 an options appraisal process was held to consider possible future arrangement of services in north central London and received two partnership bids from local NHS acute trusts.
The panel who assessed the bids included local commissioners and GPs and also had equal representation from patients and residents, ensuring that the voice of patients was central to decision-making about how services could work in the future.
An update was taken to the Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee (JHOSC) in late September and the NHS England assurance of the proposals will take place over the autumn.
The programme is on track to bring a pre-consultation business case for clinical commissioner approval before Christmas and at the same time to formally ask for approval to go to public consultation on the proposed changes to the model of care.
