Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital’s recruitment and retention success
To complement the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital’s (RNOH) existing workforce strategy a three-year nursing attraction, recruitment and retention programme has been developed. Work began in April 2018 and a lead recruited in July 2018. The programme has seen the RNOH team supporting flexibility, improving career planning, developing strong organisational values and culture, sharing knowledge with trusts and CapitalNurse and implementing a nursing workforce dashboard to accurately record recruitment data, productivity, sickness and appraisals.
Between July 2018 and March 2019 the programme reported a 5.47% decrease in the vacancy rate, a 4.49% increase in retention and a 3.17% decrease in turnover rate.
