FREE Medicines Safety Training for pharmacists working in GP Practices across NCL
UCL Partners, the academic and science partnership, is working with North Central London (NCL) CCGs to rollout PINCER which has been identified for national adoption.
PINCER is an evidence-based intervention comprising of an audit tool that searches the GP practice computer systems and identifies patients who are being prescribed medicines that are commonly and consistently associated with medication errors. This then enables pharmacists (trained by PRIMIS*) to agree and implement action plans with GPs to reduce the risk of these errors occurring, thereby improving medicines safety.
The software and training are available free of charge to all GP practices and their practice pharmacists. It also supports the patient safety QOF (Quality and Outcome Framework) in the GP contract (Page 106).
The first pharmacist training sessions are planned for Tuesday 14th May and Wednesday 15th May. Pharmacists are required to attend three half-day sessions over the course of three months. For further information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
