First International GPs take up position in Haringey practices
March saw the arrival of our first cohort of GPs taking part in the International GP Recruitment Programme. Placed in a mixture of training and non-training practices in Haringey, the four international GPs (from France, Netherlands, Belgium and Lithuania) are all starting in practice in March, supported by local GP supervisors together with a dedicated learning programme from Health Education England.
A further two candidates have been recruited and are due to start in their matched practices in north central London in April and May.
International GP Recruitment continues, with Enfield prioritised for the next round, welcoming candidates for interviews and local orientation visits in the first week of May. We will then focus on engaging Barnet GP Practices to build a similar cohort to address GP shortages and develop practices that have not previously hosted learners.
Any practices interested in hosting an International GP are invited to join a Broadcast on Thursday 18th April 1:30pm to find out more about the programme or to contact Tessa Newton, the North London Partners Project Manager for International GP Recruitment, Tessa.email@example.com.
