Royal Free London launches electronic patient record
Royal Free London launches electronic patient record to transform care
The Royal Free London (RFL) has introduced a new electronic patient record (EPR) so staff can always access the information they need – when and where they need it – to ensure the best care for patients.
The single, integrated record replaced paper records at Barnet Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital in November with roll-out across the Royal Free Hospital planned for 2020.
Electronic patient records are a key enabler for integrated care across north central London, facilitating real time sharing of patient data, and underpinning the system’s digital ambitions.
EPR also delivers the RFL group’s ambitions by supporting the implementation of clinical practice group (CPG) pathways, prompting healthcare teams to the most appropriate evidence-based treatments.
The launch of the Cerner Millennium EPR was supported with funding from the national Global Digital Exemplar (GDE) programme and is part of RFL’s plans to become the most digitally advanced NHS trust by 2020.
